Avita has recently unveiled their new car beforeChinese new “Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Auto Show”.
This is a sedan, smaller in size, with a refreshed front design and new color options, giving it a more dynamic appearance. Its name is Avita 06.
At first glance, the Avita 06 stands out with its unique style, creating a stark contrast with the Avita 12. Its sporty feel comes not only from its vibrant body color but also from the combination of various design elements that outline a sporty exterior.
Starting with the car color, Avita describes it as a color full of “energy.” It truly captures the unique color that lies between red and orange. This new car color has not been officially named. Avita has launched a naming contest, and many suggestions have been made by netizens, such as Dawn Red, Phoenix Star Red, and Morning Glow Red.
It’s notable that the Avita 06 is the first model to feature a two-tone body (excluding the Royal Theater Edition). The black roof and side skirts cleverly reduce the visual thickness of the car’s side. Combined with the rising waistline, a wheel height ratio of over 1:2, and large five-spoke sporty wheels, the car’s side becomes a highlight showcasing the Avita 06’s sporty characteristics.
The front design has also seen some changes, adopting what the brand calls the Avita 2.0 design concept. The daytime running lights have shifted to a “longer on top, shorter on bottom” layout, extending downward to the sides of the headlights. This not only clearly distinguishes it from previous designs but also maintains the brand’s design continuity, making it instantly recognizable as an Avita.
The rear is similar, with an overall layout akin to the Avita 12. It features a windowless design, slender segmented taillights, an illuminated logo, and even a diffuser that is almost identical. The difference is that the 06 has removed the automatic rear wing, emphasizing the upturned ducktail spoiler.
The sporty style of the Avita 06 is evident in its body dimensions. This new car has a body length of 4855 mm, making it more compact compared to the 5020 mm length of the Avita 12. Unlike the typical sedans on the market that exceed 5 meters in length, the 06’s size is more suitable for daily driving needs, with a wheelbase of less than 3 meters at 2940 mm and a width of 1960 mm.
The height of the 06 is controlled at 1450 mm, which is comparable to similar fuel-powered models (for example, the BMW 3 Series has a height of 1454 mm). Therefore, the Avita 06 is likely to adopt a custom H-shaped underfloor battery similar to the Avita 12 to ensure rear headroom, which might present some cost challenges.
The good news is that the Avita 06 has optimized its sensor configuration by removing the side-mounted lateral LiDARs and retaining only one LiDAR on the roof. This design might be similar to the sensor scheme of the Wenjie M5, which includes 1 LiDAR, 3 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, 7 high-perception cameras, and 4 panoramic cameras.
Notably, the LiDAR on the 06 might be upgraded from the AT128 used in the Wenjie M5 to a new generation 192-line LiDAR, the same one found on top of the Avita 07.
In terms of power configuration, only the pure electric version has been officially announced so far. However, considering Avita’s recent hybrid power layout, it is highly likely that the 06 will also offer a model with the Kunlun range extender, equipped with a 1.5T engine.
As for the price, Avita has positioned the 06 at around $27,360, targeting consumers seeking a balance between high quality and reasonable pricing, replicating the success of the Avita 07.
