Global Renewable Energy Company CWP Global brei verder uit na Europa met planne om Montenegro se grootste PV-kragstasie te bou

  • CWP Global has announced plans to build a utility scale solar power plant in Montenegro
  • It is proposed to have 400 MW capacity, which according to local media will be located in the City of Cetinje
  • The project is planned to come online by the end of 2026 and generate close to 650 GWh annually

Europe and Australia focused renewable energy company CWP Global is expanding its reach in Europe with a 400 MW solar power plant in Montenegro called the Montechevo PV project, the company announced.

Without sharing any details of the project on its social media, CWP stated, “During the implementation of the project, we will be guided by the highest international standards, in order to contribute in the best possible way to the overall development of the local communities, as well as renewable energy sources in Montenegro and the region.”

Volgens Balkan Groen Energie Nuus, the project is expected to cost an investment of €360 million and will be located in the City of Cetinje. It is planned to enter construction in 2025 and come online by the end of 2026 when it will produce an estimated 650 GWh annually.

The project will be the largest solar power plant in Montenegro once commissioned, the company claimed. In fact, it will be one of the largest solar installations in Europe. The largest system so far is Iberdrola’s 590 MW Francisco Pizarro plant in Extremadura, which was grid connected in the summer of 2022.

In Europe, CWP says it is developing 2 GW of utility scale solar, wind and battery storage projects in Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, and Ukraine.

Elsewhere, CWP Global is currently working on some of the largest renewable energy projects globally, including the 10 GW renewables and green hydrogen project in the Horn of Africa in Djibouti, and 26 GW strong Australian Renewable Energy Hub with bp as 40.5% stakeholder.
