Notizie in breve su Cina Solar PV: Nuovo record di efficienza delle celle Hjt di Trinasolar e altro

Leadmicro delays PV plant to 2025; Qn-SOLAR plans 2 GW TOPCon module plant in Guizhou; SPIC launches desert-based clean energy microgrid data center; CPIA raises concerns over low-cost bids in Xinjiang solar project.

Trinasolar sets new world record for HJT cell efficiency with 27.08%

Vertically integrated solar PV maker Trinasolar has announced that its National Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology has achieved a new world record for heterojunction (HJT) solar cell efficiency. Certified by Germany’s Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH), the cell reached a maximum efficiency of 27.08%, the highest efficiency ever recorded for a crystalline silicon cell with a front-and-rear sides contact structure. This also marks Trinasolar’s 29th world record.

The breakthrough cell utilizes a 210 mm x 105 mm half-cut design, industrial-grade phosphorus-doped Czochralski silicon wafers, and advanced thin-film passivation technologies. Innovations include full passivation on the rear, improved doping systems via multi-frequency RF techniques, and ultra-fine-finger printing.

Earlier this month, Trinasolar unveiled its upgraded full-scenario Vertex n-type solar module series, based on its next-generation i-TOPCon Ultra technology that it categorizes under the TOPCon 2.0 era (see Trinasolar Introduces 760W New Solar Module Under TOPCon 2.0).

Leadmicro delays solar equipment plant

Solar production equipment manufacturer Leadmicro has announced in its latest update that 89.21% of the RMB 1.10 billion ($154.80 million) funds raised through its 2022 IPO have been utilized. These funds were allocated for 3 key projects: an expansion and upgrade project for PV and flexible electronic equipment based on atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology, an expansion project for semiconductor support equipment based on ALD technology, and a high-end equipment industrialization center for integrated circuits. While the semiconductor support equipment facility has reached operational readiness, the company said the PV and flexible electronics plant has been delayed due to a temporary supply-demand mismatch in the PV industry. It is now expected to be completed in December 2025.

Last month, Leadmicro began mass shipments of its ALD+PVD equipment for large-scale production of perovskite cells on 100 MW-sized glass substrates (vedi Snippet di notizie sul fotovoltaico cinese in Cina).

Qn-SOLAR to set up 2 GW TOPCon module plant

Solar cell and module maker Qn-SOLAR has signed an agreement for a 2 GW TOPCon module smart manufacturing base in Kaili City, Guizhou Province. It will invest about RMB 280 million ($39.37 million) in this facility spread over 6.67 hectares with the capacity to produce 2 GW of solar modules annually. Additionally, in September, Qn-SOLAR launched a solar cell manufacturing project in the same region, involving a total investment of RMB 3 billion ($421.97 million) to build a 6 GW n-type solar cell facility. This cell facility is scheduled for completion and commissioning in June 2025, with operations starting in August 2025.

SPIC develops world’s first desert-based clean energy microgrid data center

The Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), and China Mobile launched the Qaidam Green Microgrid Data Center Demonstration Project. Located in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, the project includes solar PV, energy storage, microgrid, and energy management systems, with power supply supported by SPIC’s high-efficiency IBC monocrystalline bifacial modules. The facility is expected to supply 126 million kWh of electricity annually, saving 42,100 tons of standard coal and reducing CO₂ emissions by 115,500 tons. As the world’s first microgrid-based clean energy data center leveraging desert land and solar PV resources, it will host 10,000 computing power clusters and ensure flexible green power allocation.

Recently, the National Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Verification Experimental Platform (Daqing Base), managed by SPIC, was included in the first batch of projects in the ‘Expansion of Application of Technological Achievements in Central State-owned Enterprises’ list (vedi Snippet di notizie sul fotovoltaico cinese in Cina).

CPIA questions low bidding price in Xinjiang solar project

GD Power Bazhou Power Generation Company, a subsidiary of the CHN Energy Group (hereafter called the Procuring Entity) announced candidate winners for the solar module supply for a 600 MW pumped storage solar project in Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. The bid prices ranged from RMB 0.625/W to RMB 0.631/W, below the China Photovoltaic Industry Association’s (CPIA) November minimum cost calculation of RMB 0.69/W. CPIA has formally requested an explanation from the Procuring Entity, highlighting that most bidders offered prices above RMB 0.69/W, adhering to CPIA’s guideline of not selling below cost. The association criticized the choice of below-cost bidders, warning of increased ‘involution’ in the solar PV sector, contrary to the Central Economic Work Conference’s call for fair competition. CPIA urged other procuring entities to prioritize performance-price ratios and lifecycle costs while analyzing abnormally low bids.
