에너지부, 520MW 저장 용량을 갖춘 150MW 풍력 및 태양광 에너지에 대한 협의 라운드 시작

  • Bulgaria has opened a consultation round for the country’s 1st renewables and storage tender round
  • It seeks to establish 570 MW wind and solar PV along with 150 MW battery energy storage capacity
  • The project is the 1st in a series of competitive auctions the country has planned for 1.425 GW renewable energy and 350 MW storage capacity

The Ministry of Energy in Bulgaria has invited public consultation for the development of 570 MW wind and solar power projects in the country, along with 150 MW battery storage capacity.

According to the local media reports, the storage component should form 30% to 50% of the renewable energy project. Grant money will cover up to 50% of the cost of the storage component.

The tender is open to companies across the board, barring those operating in agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries. The last date to submit feedback is November 6, 2023.

This happens to be the 1st tender under a series of projects the country plans to launch in the near future as it seeks to increase the share of renewable energy in the gross final energy consumption to 27% by 2030. The overarching ambition is to facilitate the installation of 1.425 GW renewable energy and 350 MW storage capacity in the country.

It will be financed through a grant program of BGN 265.4 million ($143.5 million) under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), according to local media reports. The government expects the program to help bring down electricity costs by up to 40%, while attracting more than €600 million of investments in renewable energy.

In February 2023, the Bulgarian Innovation Ministry invited applications to fund small-scale solar and storage systems.
