Huasun & Inercom sign 1.5 GW HJT module deal for Bulgaria; Midsummer gets €6.4 million from Invitalia; 29 MW French Solar CPPA With Les Mousquetaires for Q Energy.
Huasun announces GW-level HJT order for Europe: Anhui Huasun Energy of China has signed a framework agreement to supply 1.5 GW heterojunction (HJT) solar modules to European EPC Inercom by the end of 2025. Huasun says with this, it has become the world’s 1st company to win GW-level orders for HJT technology. Inercom plans to deploy Huasun’s Himalaya series for its large-scale utility projects in Bulgaria. Previously, the duo collaborated for 86 MW HJT modules for a southern Bulgaria project.
Midsummer gets Italian help for fab: Italian investment authority Invitalia has shelled out €6.4 million grant for Swedish solar thin-film equipment manufacturer Midsummer for its 50 MW thin-film solar cell fab in Italy’s Bari. Midsummer says this is the 1st installment of a €22 million grant that Invitalia has promised the company to construct what is expected to become the largest European factory for the production of thin film solar cells. So far, Midsummer has installed 5 of its Sweden manufactured DUO machines in the Bari fab. Production is scheduled to begin later in 2023. Previously, the Swedish company had announced securing SEK 390 million financial support from Invitalia.
Q Energy bags 29 MW solar CPPA in France: Les Mousquetaires, the French large-scale retail chain from France, has entered a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Q Energy for 29 MW solar power. The Hanwha Solutions company will supply 33 GWh solar power annually to the French business, covering 1.3% of its total annual energy needs. Power will be sourced from Chaume Solar ground mounted facility currently being constructed by Q Energy in Sarthe region in the villages of Saint-Pierre-de-Chevillé and Dissay-sous-Courcillon. It is scheduled to come online in early 2024.
