그리스 가정 및 농부를 위한 태양광 및 저장 시스템 보조금을 위한 200억 유로 PV 프로그램

  • Greece has launched a new Photovoltaics on the Roof program with €200 million budget
  • It will be awarded to PV systems and storage systems of up to 10.8 kW each, for households and farmers
  • €35 million is reserved for vulnerable households and 10% for PWS, single parents and multi-child families

Households and farmers in Greece will be able to access government subsidy for their solar and storage systems under the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN) new €200 million Photovoltaics on the Roof program, with special bonus of 10% for people with disabilities (PWS), single parents and multi-child families.

The budget of €200 million is part of the country’s Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF). The program will remain open till the budget is exhausted for all 3 following categories:

  • €85 million exclusively for citizens with an individual income of less than €20,000 or family income of less than €40,000.
  • €50 million exclusively for citizens with an individual income of more than €20,000 or family income of more than €40,000.
  • €30 million exclusively for professional farmers or special status farmers.

Maximum installed power for solar PV systems and battery projects is 10.8 kW each.

Subsidy provided under the program for solar PV systems will cover up to 75% of the cost for households and 60% for farmers. If the PV system is accompanied by a battery storage component, the total subsidy can go up to €16,000 for households and €10,000 for farmers.

An amount of €35 million will be reserved exclusively for vulnerable households, it added. Beneficiaries will be able to save up to €3,000/year on their electricity bills, according to the ministry.

To apply, interested applicants need to have a connection agreement with the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE), but the PV system should not be actually connected to the grid.

Farmers can submit a single application each for their residence and for agricultural electricity supply. PV systems can either be ground-mounted or located on the rooftop including canopies, terraces, façades, share and pergolas. These can also be installed in auxiliary areas of the building or agricultural land as warehouses and parking lots.

“With the new Photovoltaics on the Roof program, thousands of households and farmers will be able to become energy independent, producing and storing their own green energy. By doing so, they will reduce electricity bills and limit greenhouse gas emissions,” said Greek Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas.

The government plans to open the platform to receive applications from those interested in April. Details about the scheme are available on YPEN’s 웹 사이트.

Greece is targeting 28 GW of total renewable energy capacity by 2030 in the country, to be scaled up to 65 GW by 2050. Solar PV’s share under its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) is 14.1 GW by 2030 and 34.5 GW by 2050. Greece also aims for 5.6 GW battery energy storage capacity of 5.6 GW and 23.3 GW, respectively.
