Meizu was once one of the most relevant names in the Chinese smartphone market. However, the company saw its competitors dominating the market and could not react. The company was acquired by electric carmaker Geely, which has even hinted at the end of the Meizu smartphone series. Perhaps, the company had a change of heart and is gearing up to re-enter the smartphone market with new flagships. Today, new rumors come for the Meizu 22 series.
Meizu 22 Series To Mark the Brand’s Return to the Competitive Flagship Market
Earlier this year, the tipster Digital Chat Station, mentioned that Meizu was working on the new Meizu 22 series. Unfortunately, details were not available back then. Now, another tipster from China, Smart Pikachu, comes with new details about the flagships. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset will likely power them. The devices will also have a white panel design to resemble their predecessors.
The tipster further states that the company is planning to launch two distinct models. One will feature a compact screen for those who prefer a smaller footprint for easy management. The second will have a more prominent display compatible with today’s standards in the smartphone market.
Both will offer deep integration with in-car Flyme Auto, following Meizu’s strategy of “All in AI”. Just like other companies, Meizu aims to integrate AI more deeply into the user experience. In addition, the brand is testing the AI button. It will be incorporated into the device for some of the AI features. Moreover, the rumors state that Meizu will address some past issues with the cameras on their smartphones. The company is exploring advanced imaging tech and new software optimizations for an improved photography experience.

The Meizu 22 series is also expected to feature high-quality Chinese OLED screens with 1.5K resolution for vanilla and 2K for the Pro. The devices will also boast in-housed developed ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, and the company is testing high-density batteries, for capacities above 5,500 mAh.
Meizu unveiled its Meizu 21 series in 2023, followed by new models this year. The Meizu 21 Pro arrived in February and the Meizu 21 Note in May. The Pro boasts a 6.79-inch 2K AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It also has a 5050mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging and IP68 certification.
The new Meizu 22 series will launch sometime in 2025 and we expect to hear more about them soon.
