  • Actis has launched a new renewable energy platform in Peru calling it Orygen
  • It comprises the assets from its recent investments in Enel Generación Perú and Compania Energetica Veracruz
  • Orygen has 2.2 GW diversified energy generation capacity and 12 GW development portfolio

Global sustainable infrastructure investor Actis has put together its recent investments in Peru’s renewable energy sector to unveil Orygen, a new independent power producer (IPP) for which it touts 12 GW development portfolio.

The new venture has 2.2 GW diversified energy generation installed capacity, including Peru’s largest renewable energy portfolio, says Actis. The assets comprise solar PV, wind, hydroelectric and thermal gas facilities.

Orygen has been created with the assets of Enel Generación Perú S.A.A. and Compania Energetica Veracruz in which Actis recently acquired 92.35% and 100% stake, respectively (see Latin America Solar PV News Snippets).

The new company will be led by Marco Fragale as the CEO. He previously worked with Enel across Latin America, including Peru.

“Orygen has bold plans to further build-out what is already a market-leading renewables portfolio to provide a highly competitive and sustainable offering to commercial and industrial customers in Peru,” said Partner, Energy Infrastructure At Actis, Nicolas Escallon. “This is a tried and tested approach that has proved highly successful for a number of Actis platforms and our investment in Orygen will allow us to make a meaningful difference in Peru, shoring up energy security and affordability while accelerating the country’s decarbonisation.”

Actis says this enhances it energy portfolio in Latin America where it already operates Serena Energy and Valia Energia. Globally, its installed energy generation capacity portfolio stands at around 35 GW.
