Xiaomi Launches the YU7: A Bold Step Into the SUV Market

Who would have thought Xiaomi’s SUV would be called the Xiaomi YU7?

The Chinese new “Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Auto Show” opened, and the most anticipated model is undoubtedly the “Ferrami”—

Yes, the previously leaked renderings were mostly accurate. The Xiaomi YU7’s exterior proportions are similar to the Ferrari Purosangue, featuring a long hood and a lower body.

Although China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology hasn’t released interior details, we can still sketch a rough idea based on available information.

In April 2023, Xiaomi Auto Technology Co., Ltd. applied for and was granted a “vehicle” patent. The patent description mentions that most vehicles today have dashboards in front of the steering wheel, requiring drivers to look down to see vehicle information, which is not conducive to driving safety. This patent places the display device between the console and the front windshield’s transparent section, making it easier for drivers to view vehicle information and enhancing driving safety.

At the time, some netizens speculated that this design might be implemented in Xiaomi’s SUV. Recent spy photos of the interior suggest this might be coming true.

Recently, a leak photo clearly showed the Xiaomi YU7’s extended display screen. This screen is slender, with a display effect similar to the Avita 12’s extended display, but Xiaomi’s is noticeably narrower. It is expected to show only key driving information, while the main multimedia and vehicle control interactions will be handled by the large central control screen below.

The lower part of the center console has also been photographed. From top to bottom, it includes a wireless charging pad, cup holders, and an armrest box. At first glance, it resembles the design of the Li Auto L6.

Additionally, from the exposed material comparison chart, it appears that the interior of the Xiaomi YU7 will have at least two color options: Bone Snail Purple and Red Cinnabar Orange. You can check out the designer’s renderings.

Continuing on, although the design of the Xiaomi YU7 is quite sporty, the rear space is significantly larger than that of the SU7, and the backrest angle is also greater, which is expected to support backrest angle adjustment.

After the announcement from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Xiaomi Auto also added the following information:

“The Xiaomi YU7 will officially launch between June and July 2025.”
